With circumstances continuing to change rapidly around the globe, we are making critical and timely decisions based on guidance from local, national and international health agencies. As we have shared before, we are basing our decisions on the safety and well-being of our Cast Members and our Guests, since there is nothing more important than that.
In an abundance of caution, the 2020 Star Wars™ Rival Run Weekend will be cancelled. In addition, because our runDisney races require the presence of local medical professionals and first responders to monitor and treat runners, this will free up those resources for more critical needs during this time.
Volunteer Ambassadors are needed to support the presence of Make-A-Wish® Central and Northern Florida during the 2020 Star WarsTM Rival Run Weekend, presented by OtterBox, at Walt Disney World® Resort.
In honor of the event, runDisney is thrilled to make an independent donation to Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida, which has granted more than 5,800 wishes since it was founded in 1994. Your registration and participation will not affect the amount donated.
Nationally, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted over 300,000 wishes since 1980—with more than 15,400 wishes granted during 2017 in the U.S and its territories. To learn more, visit cnfl.wish.org.
Volunteer Ambassador registration is now closed.
The Make-A-Wish mission is granting the wishes of children who’ve been diagnosed with critical illnesses in an effort to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Based on the 2011 Wish Impact Study, a combined 89% of the doctors, nurses and health professionals surveyed said they believe wish experiences can influence a wish kid’s physical health. In addition, 99% of parents reported that the wish experience gave their children increased feelings of happiness and 96% said that the wish strengthened their families.
A wish is more than a nice thing—wishes are catalysts that can lead to renewed strength and hope in children battling critical illness. Each wish has the power to replace fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a life-changing wish every 34 minutes.
Volunteer Ambassadors are needed to support the Make-A-Wish® Founation’s presence at the 2020 Star Wars™ Rival Run Weekend, presented by OtterBox, at Walt Disney World® Resort.
As part of the registration process, all participants and volunteers will have the opportunity to make a donation to Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida, an organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
